WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kressin Powers is proud to announce the addition of Xuan (Ellen) Gong-Hanson to the firm. Ellen adds to Kressin Powers’ deep and growing bench of former FTC and DOJ Antitrust lawyers who have reinforced the firm’s offense-oriented legacy.

Ellen joins Kressin Powers from the FTC, where she investigated and litigated across a wide variety of industries such as healthcare, emerging technologies, hospitals, specialty distribution, gaming, and consumer products. Ellen was on the trial team in FTC v. Tempur Sealy and Mattress Firm (S.D. Tex.) and helped litigate FTC v. U.S. Anesthesia Partners (S.D. Tex.).

“We are thrilled to have Ellen join our team,” said partner Richard Powers, former Acting Assistant Attorney General of DOJ Antitrust. “She brings the right mix of aggressiveness, judgment, and efficiency needed to navigate complex antitrust litigation matters and achieve outstanding results for our clients.”

“Ellen is the kind of lawyer we built Kressin Powers to attract. She has investigated and tried cases for the government against well-funded defendants, and she joins a group of former FTC and DOJ lawyers who know how to take an antitrust case from theory to verdict,” said partner Brandon Kressin. “Ellen joining our team strengthens a bench that is already one of the deepest in real antitrust litigation.”

Before joining the Federal Trade Commission, Ellen represented companies and individuals in civil enforcement actions, criminal no-poach investigations, and multidistrict litigations at a large international law firm. There, her experience included M&A counseling, such as advising clients through antitrust clearance and closing, preparing HSR filings, and regulatory advocacy.

Ellen earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she served as Articles Editor for the Annual Survey of American Law.
